ASHLEY NOSEWORTHY
Chief Executive Officer
  • Ashley holds an M.Sc in International Marine Environmental Consultancy from Newcastle University (UK) and a B.Sc in Biology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

  • Her Masters thesis focused on the relative occurrence of harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) in a proposed windfarm site along the Northumberland coast of the UK using passive and stationary acoustics.

  • She began her offshore career in 2010, working globally as a Marine Mammal and Seabird Observer on a variety of seismic, geohazard and research projects.

  • She is a trained PAM Operator

  • Ashley has over 12 years experience working and volunteering in the areas of marine mammal husbandry, marine mammal physiology and cognition.

  • She has worked on board semi-submersibles, responsible for implementing platform-specific ice management protocols and wildlife management systems

  • Ashley is an experienced aviation, offshore and sea survival instructor.

  • She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industry Associations (NEIA) and the Executive Committee for the Marine Mammal Observer Association (MMOA)

STEPHANIE LEGER
Principal Consultant
  • Stephanie is an Ornithologist specializing in seabirds and the bioacoustics of bird vocalizations.

  • She holds a B.S. in Zoology from Colorado State University where she focused on raptor breeding biology and Antarctic ecology.

  • She also holds an M.Sc. in Biology from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) studying developmental vocalizations in alcids.

  • Stephanie has over seven years of experience working as a biological consultant in the energy industry (mine reclamation and offshore oil exploration) and nearly a decade of experience working with birds.

  • She has conducted various types of bird surveys throughout her consulting engagements. These include offshore vessel bird surveys and landbird surveys. Through private sector firms and Environment Canada, she has monitored threatened and endangered migratory species.

  • She has helped prepare hundreds of small mammal and avian skins, wings, skeletons and vocal tracts for museums across Canada and the United States.

Visiting Instructor, CEO of PAMOS
  • Dr Jonathan Vallarta is a Senior Underwater Acoustics Engineer and Scientist with a range of expertise and 15 years of field work experience.

  • He holds a PhD in Underwater Acoustics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland; a B.Eng in Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications from Iberoamericana University and a B.Sc in Biological Sciences from the UNAM in Mexico City.

  • He specializes in the design of new configurations for hydrophone arrays and development of localization algorithms using passive sonar techniques that accurately track the migratory patterns of cetaceans in areas where there is increased seismic and drilling activity. He was also a pioneer in the origins of the PAMGuard software.

  • He has worked for specialized companies in underwater acoustics field in the UK and Canada. He is also the founder of his own company PAMOS where he works as an independent consultant and conducts PAM training courses in Canada and Latin America.
