DIGITAL MARKETING AND TECHNOLOGY STRATEGIST

EDGEWISE Environmental is looking to hire a Digital Marketing and Technology Strategist. The position will support raising awareness of Edgewise Environmental, both locally and globally. This a great opportunity for an individual with an interest in marketing, communication and technology enhancement wanting to work in a start-up environment focused in the blue economy.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The job will be varied in nature and work each week will depend on the priorities of the company.

 

An outline of the sorts of tasks you might be expected to work on include: ​

  • Website editing and content writing

  • Development of marketing materials for local and foreign markets

  • Assisting in the development of marketing and digital processes 

  • Support global market research in target markets

  • Researching, drafting and producing content for Edgewise social media channels

  • Organization of photograph library

  • Assist in managing the distribution of promotional and information material stock.

  • Offering elements of administrative support to the team where needed

Essential Requirements:

  • Recent graduate of a post secondary institute with a background in marketing, business administration and/or computer science.

  • Experience of marketing and/or communications - which could have been gained through academic study or an apprenticeship, or by a relevant job or work experience.

  • Experience of producing high quality written materials, as well as image sourcing or researching.

  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize work in order to meet tight deadlines.

  • A good understanding of social media and digital channels.

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of commerce, business administration or computer science

  • Experience with website development and editing

  • Experience in developing marketing materials

  • Knowledge and experience in foreign markets 

This is an entry level contractual position to begin as soon as possible, finishing in February 2021, with the possibility of extension. Applicants MUST meet all eligibility requirements for the YESS (Youth Employment and Skills Strategy) Program.

MARINE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS

EDGEWISE Environmental is interested in connecting with qualified Marine Mammal Biologists, Seabird Biologists, Marine Mammal Seabird Observers and PAM Operators for current and upcoming opportunities.

 

All positions will be contractual.

 

Contracts and scope vary. Job duties may include, but are not limited to;

 

  • Observation and data collection of marine mammals and seabirds from an observation platform

  • Wildlife oil spill response

  • Develop and implement long-term programs for monitoring environmental pollution, including developing protocols and environmental compliance

  • Provide assistance to fisheries management

  • Writing of policies, procedures, and grants

  • Interpretation of scientific data using a variety of statistical software


 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of a BSc degree in marine biology, environmental science, marine science, or a related field (Marine Mammal Biologist / Seabird Biologist)

  • Formal MMO, SO and/or PAM Operator certification

  • Applicable offshore safety training (BST, BOSIET, MED-DVS)

  • Valid medical

  • WHMIS

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Self-motivated with attention to detail

  • Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently

  • These positions may involve working in remote field locations, and may include night/weekend shifts, and/or working in challenging weather conditions.
