Social Media and Marketing Assistant

Ready to join a small team of hardworking industry professionals? Edgewise Environmental is looking for a motivated and dependable student (Bachelors or Masters) for the contract position of Marketing Assistant, beginning in January 2023. This position will be responsible for supporting the Edgewise team with various digital marketing related tasks to help foster brand awareness and company growth. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social media content creation (using Canva and Later)

  • Assist with maintenance of our website and online course portal

  • Assist with email marketing and social media campaigns

  • Photography and videography for print and digital marketing material

  • Creation and upkeep of digital marketing materials and internal documents

  • Tracking social media/website analytics and creating and presenting reports

  • Research and brainstorming for social media trends, post ideas, strategies and campaigns

  • Assist with daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of company activities

Key Attributes:

  • Strong editing and proofreading skills

  • Good understanding of office management and marketing principles

  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines

  • Ability to create visually pleasing and on-brand social media content

  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and meaningful way

  • Knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite and other online applications 

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills

Requirements:

  • Full or part-time student enrolled in an accredited Canadian college or university

  • Hold Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency or refugee status (This is a requirement of the funding agency)

  • Proven experience in a marketing related role is an asset

  • Access to high-speed internet, a computer, and a dependable phone (our main forms of communication between colleagues while working remotely are email, Slack, and Zoom!)

  • Ability to work between 20-37.5 hours per week. Preference will be given to those that can work 25+ hours

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Work Environment

Edgewise Environmental has adopted a hybrid working model. Our team typically works from home 2 days per week, working the rest of the week in our co-working space in downtown St. John’s. It is preferable that the candidate work from the office the majority of their work hours. While our usual working hours are the typical 9am-5pm, we are flexible when it comes to shifting work hours around class schedules.

This is a part or full time contractual position lasting 14-17 weeks. The position will begin in January 2022 and end in June 2022, with the potential to extend.

Candidates in the St. John’s, NL area are strongly preferred. Remote work opportunities for personnel outside of the province of Newfoundland will be considered on a case by case basis. 

Hiring of the successful candidate is contingent upon confirmation of funding through Venture for Canada. Due to requirements set forth by Venture for Canada, candidates must hold Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency or refugee status (International students are not eligible).

Edgewise Environmental is a certified women-owned marine environmental consultancy, founded and located in St. John’s, Newfoundland. We focus heavily on marine animal mitigation and observation as well as anthropogenic noise mitigation solutions. Our three main streams of service include marine animal mitigation training, marine environmental consulting, and research and development. We are extremely passionate about industry collaboration, ocean literacy, and ocean conservation.
