Are You An Offshore Observer?

Are you already a certified marine mammal observer? Seabird observer? PAM Operator? Do you have at-sea experience? We are always looking to grow our database of offshore contractors. If you are interested in submitting your CV to EDGEWISE for consideration please read below for requirements.

For observers interested in working within Canada, we Require the following:

  • Current CV

  • Marine Mammal and/or Seabird Observer and/or PAM Operator certification

  • Current survival training certification (BST / BOSIET / MED-DVS)

  • Relevant medical (preferably CAPP)

  • First Aid with CPR + AED

  • Current passport

  • Relevant work visa (if not a permanent resident or citizen)

Other Desirable certifications include:

  • A degree in marine biology or relevant field

  • Proof of regular recurrence of MMO / Seabird Observer / PAM Operator certifications

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Seaman’s book

Student Internships

EDGEWISE Environmental is a strong advocate for ocean literacy, continued professional development, and under-represented demographics in STEM fields! We believe the Blue Economy has room for all, and that everyone should have the opportunity to learn about the ocean. That is why EDGEWISE Environmental hires student interns, to provide them with knowledge and experience in this sector. Youth today are leaders tomorrow, and if we want to ensure stewardship of our oceans, they are the ones to do it!

We have previously hired students through TechNation and Venture for Canada with backgrounds in marketing, administration, and technology, but we are open to hiring students with backgrounds in various fields! In particular, we are on the lookout for students who are studying or have studied computer science or (marine) biology. Typically, interns must either be registered in a post-secondary institution in Canada, or be a recent graduate under the age of 30.
